Starting signal for a sustainable and therefore future-proof school

In the group’s first meeting, goals and visions were collected and the sustainable current state of our school was determined. The result at this point is probably better than expected: Our school uses copy paper that has the highest possible sustainability value, fair trade balls are used in sports lessons and the coffee in the staff rooms is produced fairly and ecologically, to name just a few examples. Nevertheless, the working group has identified goals that are on the participants' "wish list". Keywords such as waste separation, paper avoidance through digitalization and reducing the use of paper towels in the toilets were mentioned. But again, these are just examples.

"Learning locations develop their full innovative power when they work holistically - that means taking a 360-degree view of sustainability."(https://www.unesco.de/node/6100)

Education for Sustainable Development is therefore not only a cross-cutting topic in the classroom, but also the learning processes and methods of all those involved in school are geared towards education for sustainability: This is known as the Whole School Approach!

With this in mind, the ESD working group is highly motivated and welcomes ideas and commitment of all kinds - participation and imitation are always welcome!

The ESD-AG will meet on the following dates this semester and is looking forward to welcoming more teachers and pupils who would like to join the team. If you are interested, simply send us an email: bne@rbz-koenigsweg.org
